The Taff Trail:Llanfrynach
Llanfrynach
Llanfrynach is a pretty little village built around a church. There is also the Swan public house.
The previously useful public lavatory was closed by Powis County Council at the end of 2006 (so unless the pub is open you will have to use a convenient hedge).
Llanfrynach is enjoyed only by Cycling Taff Trailers since walkers stay on the canal towpath between Brynich and Talybont.
Llanfrynach to Talybont Reservoir
With the church on you left (and the locked lavatory on the right) turn right into anunclassified road which runs through to Pencelli where the canal can be seen again. Follow the road to Cross Oak turning right by a war memorial in the form of a celtic cross.
After climbing through Aber Village we come to the Talybont Reservoir Dam.
Llanfrynach to Brecon
Starting with the Church to your right continue along the main road following a curve to the right. At the junction turn left over a narrow bridge across the River Usk then left through the gate at Brynich Canal Lock. Follow the wide towpath almost to Brecon. A path to the left by-passes a narrow section through to Brecon Canal Basin.
Llanfrynach to Talybont-on-Usk
Talybont-on-Usk is not on the Taff Trail cycling route but has a useful shop and pubs. If heading over the Beacons, there are no more facilities until Pontsticill 14 miles away.
Follow the route from Llanfrynach as far as Cross Oak, but don't turn right, continue for just less than a mile along the same road.
